Total Immersion [TI] is a world-renowned freestyle swim coaching methodology that emphasizes proper technique and a dedication to mindful swimming practice. Component by component it focuses on every aspect of the swim stroke beginning with a proper foundation that includes balance, alignment, and body position.
For many swimmers interested in improving their freestyle strokes, the training will work through the TI freestyle drill sequence. This sequence will take you from foundational drills through to a technically sound whole stroke. It will begin with balance, move to streamline, and finally to propulsion. Other topics, such as open water swimming and sighting and additional speed considerations are covered during coaching.
The best way to understand this is by videotape analysis both above and below the water using several angles. Every aspect of the stroke will be analyzed using state-of-the-art computer software that allows frame-by-frame viewing. This includes the body position, balance and alignment, rotation, stroke timing, arm recovery, breathing, kicking, and underwater catch and pulling mechanics. Technique revisions and recommendations are identified to help correct stroke inefficiencies
Total Immersion Swim Package
This would start with a swim video analysis lesson [both above and below the water] followed by a further four one hour swim coaching sessions. Your stroke will be analysed and you will be instructed on each aspect of your swim including balance, alignment, body position and balanced breathing. This package includes:
Swim Video Analysis
Take a single lesson and opt for having your swim technique videotaped and analysed from several angles using state-of-the-art computer software to allow frame by frame viewing. The position of the body, alignment and balance, rotation, breathing will be reviewed. Technique revisions and recommendations will be discussed to assist with any stroke corrections and you will receive an upload of your video files.
Private Swim Lesson
Should you want further private swim coaching we teach freestyle and lesson content varies based on the swimmers needs, but will be based on the Total Immersion freestyle drill sequence. This will move from foundation drills to balance, streamline and finally propulsion and a full stroke. Everyone progresses differently so as you master one drill then you will be able to progress to the next.
Open Water Swimming Instruction
Open-water swimming techniques can be practiced such as sighting, relaxation, beach entry and exit, starting tips and the use of wet suits. For those a little uncomfortable about swimming in the open water, this is a useful way to practice before any event, calm a few fears and will be undertaken in 288 Lake Houston or Lake Conroe.
